BETAÍNA SPORTS PERFORMANCE

Betaine is an existing substance in various foods particularly in beet, which is also applied trimethylglycine and has hepatoprotective activity, preventing hepatic steatosis (cirrhosis). Also has a remedial action at the joints.

Recent investigations indicate that supplementation with this substance leads to reduced blood lactate rate and an increase in oxygen extraction muscle activity. These investigations also concluded that along with increased strength and performance during physical activity, betaine increases the organic levels of somatotropin (growth hormone insulin-like) that possess anabolic activity (stimulating muscle mass increase).

Betaine also has a synergistic activity of creatine, through two biochemical and physiological mechanisms. First because betaine is an endogenous precursor to creatine synthesis, and second because it contributes to cellular hydration, inducing the cytoplasm of the cells to retain their water content, contributing to the muscle volume.

A study involving twelve patients subjected to high-intensity muscle training and using a user group of placebo, concluded, after muscle biopsies, AKT and P7056K that had been potentiated the phosphorylation, which shows an induction of anabolic capacity of these two proteins, and AMPK responsible for catabolic processes had suffered a decrease in the phosphorylation process. Betaine has also proved in this study, decreasing the concentration of cortisol, what is revealed positive, since this steroid catabolic muscle has a high capacity.
